Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is free on the Playstation Store.
Maybe this is to add to the hype of Rumors about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4? One thing is for sure. This game is still fantastic.
I took a break from Call of Duty games a few years back. I had been buying the new Call of Duty games each year they came out, but after a while I realized, I was basically buying the same game every year (see Madden, as well). I just didn’t think I needed to grab every single one. Even if there was single player content (cough except Black Ops 4 cough), we all know Call of Duty is about the multiplayer.
The last game in the series that I bought on release date was Call of Duty: Ghosts. I’ve grabbed a few here and there on sales, played them for a week or so and haven’t thought about them since. They’ve just become stale.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is something different. It’s simple. It’s fast. It’s just plain, fun.
In a time where Battle Royal games are all the rage, a throwback to a game from 2007 is surprisingly, refreshing.
I tried Fortnite and Apex Legends. I dabbled a bit more with PUBG. I just can’t get into these games. It’s definitely not from a lack of players or enthusiasm. I literally have people every day, asking me if I want to “Drop” with them tonight. I don’t. I’m sorry. These games are just too slow. I want to get right into the action. Most game modes in a Call of Duty game let me respawn almost immediately to get right back into the action (RIP my Kill Death ratio).
I’m addicted to this Call of Duty Remaster.
It’s all I want to play. In the multiplayer, there are no super powers to worry about. I can build my different load-outs and unlock new perks and attachments as I play more and more matches. There isn’t much to think about. It’s just simple fun.
Hopefully Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 learns something from the simplicity of the original hit game.

Let’s see how much longer this lasts. While there are a decent amount of people playing as of tonight (3/19/19), the bulk are in Team Deathmatch, which won’t keep me playing for months.
I’m actually considering Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 once this has run its course. I need to see how the player counts look on PS4 and Xbox One; PC is apparently, pretty dead. For now, this free game is one of the best deals I’ve seen in a long time and I haven’t even mentioned the amazing single player campaign!
